This structured training programme is designed to provide practical skills and workplace experience in the welding trade — ideal for young South Africans who are eager to start a career in engineering and manufacturing.

What the Apprenticeship Offers

This welding apprenticeship programme combines classroom-based learning with practical, on-the-job training. Apprentices will gain industry-relevant skills that can lead to full trade qualifications and employment in the manufacturing or construction sectors.

Who Can Apply?

Applicants must meet the following eligibility criteria:

Residency Requirement:

You must be a permanent resident of one of the following municipalities:

    Govan Mbeki Municipality

    Lekwa Municipality

    Dipaleseng Municipality

Minimum Academic Requirements:

Option 1: Grade 12 / Matric

    English (read and write)

    Pure Mathematics (Mathematical Literacy will not be accepted)

    Physical Science

OR

Option 2: N3 Certificate

    N3 Engineering Mathematics

    N3 Engineering Science

    Trade-related Theory Subject (Welding/Platers Theory – mandatory)

OR

Option 3: NCV Level 4

    English or First Additional Language

    Mathematics (Pure)

    Engineering Science or Engineering Processes

    Engineering Practice or Technology

Added Advantages (Not Mandatory):

    Engineering Graphics and Design (EGD)

    Other welding-related technical subjects

Important Notes:

Applications must be submitted via email only. No manual submissions will be accepted.

Applicants currently participating in any other learnership, internship, or apprenticeship programme are not eligible.

Only shortlisted candidates will be contacted. If you don’t hear back within two weeks after the closing date, consider your application unsuccessful.
