The City of Cape Town is excited to announce a fantastic opportunity for those interested in a career in Road Traffic Law Enforcement! We invite suitably qualified candidates to apply for our Traffic Officer Learnership programme.

Metro Police and Traffic Officer Learnership

  • Training Start Date: 1 June 2025
  • Training Duration: 18 months until 30 November 2026
  • Allowance: R34.91 per hour

Learnership Requirements

  • Grade 12 qualification (of which documentary proof must be furnished)
  • Be a permanent resident within the City of Cape Town
  • Br proficient in English and at least one other official language
  • Currently unemployed (Students and EPWP staff eligible to apply)
  • be at least 18 years old and under 35 years old
  • Must be medically and physically fit to undergo strenuous physical training.
  • Must be able to work in a team and cope with stressful situations
  • No criminal record
  • Must have a valid driving licence minimum code B (manual transmission)
  • Trainees must successfully complete the Further Education and Training Certificate: Road Traffic Law Enforcement as well as Law Enforcement Skills Programme SP4/2012
  • No tattoos which will be visible when wearing any uniform of the service.
