Rand Water, one of South Africa’s largest bulk water suppliers, is inviting unemployed South African youth to apply for its Procurement Officer Learnership Programme. 
 

This 18-month programme aims to equip learners with the practical skills, knowledge, and experience required to pursue a career in procurement and supply chain management.
 

This opportunity is ideal for youth aged 18–35, including five positions specifically reserved for people with disabilities.

Learnership Title: Supply Chain Practitioner

Duration: 18 Months
Number of Positions: 10 (including 5 for people with disabilities)
Location: Rand Water (exact site details will be provided to successful candidates)

Purpose of the Learnership

The aim of this learnership is to prepare learners to become competent Procurement Officers who can:

  •     Coordinate procurement and supply of goods and services
  •   Manage supplier contracts and negotiations
  •   Implement and monitor procurement operational schedules

Minimum Entry Requirements:

To be eligible, applicants must meet the following criteria:

    Must be unemployed

    Not enrolled in any other education institution or learnership programme

    Must not hold a post-matric qualification (failure to disclose will result in disqualification)

    Must have Matric (Grade 12) with:

        Mathematical Literacy (minimum Level 4)

        English (minimum Level 4)

    Must provide a SAQA/NLRD verification report (available from the SAQA website)

    Must be a South African citizen with a valid South African ID

    Age between 18 and 35 years, in line with NSDSIII

Additional Requirements for People with Disabilities (PWDs):

    Applicants who are deaf or hard of hearing must provide their own interpreter (at their own cost)

    A medical certificate or signed ITRDD13 form confirming the disability must be included with the application

Compulsory Documents to Submit:

  •     Certified copy of ID document
  •   Proof of residence
  •   Certified copy of Matric certificate
  •   SAQA/NLRD verification report
  •   Detailed CV

Learnership Responsibilities:

During the programme, learners will:

  •     Attend structured classes as part of the curriculum
  •   Participate in group discussions and learning activities
  •   Complete assignments and practical tasks, including a logbook
  •   Write assessments to evaluate progress and understanding

Knowledge and Skills Development:

You will gain:

  •     Insight into Rand Water’s mandate and its impact in the water sector
  •   Key procurement knowledge and contract management principles
  •   Strong communication skills (written and verbal)
  •   A professional, results-driven attitude with a focus on accountability and learning
