In recent years government has launched a number of career development initiatives, expos, centres and websites to help young people choose the right career path.

These initiatives are an indication of the dire need in the country to help lost, confused and uninformed young people make the right decision.

Career Counsellors are equipped to take clients through the process of learning and understanding who they are in order to make informed life decisions.

These counsellors are trained to identify strengths and weaknesses by administering aptitude and psychometric tests. They are knowledgeable about career opportunities and are able to direct people toward the right course of study.

To be effective as a career counsellor you must be a good listener, research-oriented, authentic and self-aware.

These skills and traits can be developed through career counselling study programmes. If you are interested in becoming a career counsellor check out this list of institutions offering counselling courses.
