All You Need To Know About CPUT Late Applications

When the Cape Peninsula University of Technology (CPUT) has space available in the programmes they offer, they will allow late applications for students that are interested.

When applying for late applications, CPUT has urged students to not travel to campus, instead they will only be accepting online applications and electronic submissions at the time of writing.

All late applications have to be done online and are free of charge. Late applications for non-degree programmes and Dean’s Discretionary – 4th Choice must follow the manual application process.

Late applications are welcomed for the following applicants:

• National applicants (with an SA ID), including Refugee/Asylum Seeker and/or Permanent Residency applicants with a National Senior Certificate (NSC) / SC (Senior Certificate) / NCV (National Vocal Certificate) / National Qualification.
• National applicants (with an SA ID) with international qualifications who already have SAQA certificates.
• Refugee/Asylum Seeker status applicants with international qualification who already have SAQA certificates.
• Permanent residency applicants with SA ID with international qualification who already have SAQA certificates.
• Regretfully no RPL (Recognition of Prior Learning) applications will be considered.

There are two categories in which late applications can fall into which are:

Category A: 

• You have not submitted any 2022 application choices to CPUT during the normal application timeline and therefore is submitting a 2022 application for the first time to CPUT (maximum of 3 choices)
• You have submitted 2022 applications before and have only submitted 1 or 2 out of the maximum of 3 choices?
• Only online application submissions will be accepted.

Category B:

• You have already submitted a maximum of three (3) 2022 application choices but do not meet the entrance requirements for programmes identified with available spaces
• Download and complete the electronic application form from the CPUT website: https://wwww.cput.ac.za/study/apply/step-3-get-an-application-form/

How to Apply

Category A: Online Application

1. Choose programmes and special requirements
   • Consult the prospectus to ensure that you meet the minimum requirements and subject requirements for your programme​​​​​​
2. Gather documents or upload further/outstanding documents
   • Please take note of the following regarding supporting documentation prior to uploading during submission of your application:
     • Minor applicants, not 18 yet at the time of application are required to submit a Minor Application Declaration, click here to download the form.
     • Each document must be scanned, saved and uploaded individually against each uploading Certificate code during your online application submission
     • All documents must be scanned in any of the following file types: tiff, pdf, jpg or gif (MS Excel and MS Word document formats are not recognized)
     • The maximum scanned file size is 2MB each
3. Submit your application and supporting documents

Category B: Manual Application

Late application fee: R150

1. Choose programmes and special requirements
   • Consult the prospectus to ensure that you meet the minimum requirements and subject requirements for your programme
2. Gather your supporting documents
3. Get an application form
   • Application form
4. Pay the application fee of R150 and submit your applications with supporting documents.

CPUT has stressed that a manual application will not be considered except if it's for the 4th choice – Dean’s Discretionary process.

The late application outcome will be conducted within the respective Faculties and the outcome will be communicated via SMS to the applicant. You can also track the outcome and/or download your acceptance letter by accessing the CPUT website link: http://www.cput.ac.za/study/track.
