Procrastination is the thief of time; this is an age old saying that best describes what happens when we delay tasks. Often, these tasks are delayed for no real reason and doing this can seem insignificant. But the truth is, the habit of procrastination can negatively impact productivity in the long run.

Matric Study

If you’re in matric and plan to achieve goals, it would be best to find ways to knock the habit of procrastinating. Here are just a few ways that you reclaim your time and quit procrastinating:

Time management

Plan out your day and create a schedule to help you keep track of tasks you need to complete. This schedule can be daily and weekly, helping you break down and plan out your tasks.

Set reminders

It can be easy to think of doing something, only to later forget about it. This is why setting reminders can be useful, as they can help you remember to complete tasks.

Set up a buddy system

If you find that you’re struggling to get tasks done on your own, try to set up a buddy system where you can have friends and peers do your tasks with you.

For instance, if you’re struggling to stick to your study schedule, try setting up a group study session. It can be easy to put things off when you only have to answer to yourself, but a group study session will make you account to other people and feel more likely to show up and complete your task on time.

Keep track of your goals

Set goals and create a timeline for yourself. If you want to achieve things, creating a timeline can help you take better advantage of the time at your disposal.

Have a rewards system

Reward yourself every time you achieve small and big tasks without procrastinating. It’s important that your reward system doesn’t take away from your productivity, but rather serves your best interest.

While procrastination can be a difficult habit to knock, it’s important to at least try to find ways to get rid of the habit. Try to envision how different your life would be if you completed tasks without procrastinating.

More often than not, completing the task is more rewarding than the buildup of leaving it to the last minute.
