The University of the Western Cape (UWC) has announced that they will be hosting in-person graduation ceremonies from 28 March to 4 April 2022 for those who are graduating this year.

Details regarding the logistics and specific graduation dates will be communicated on 11 March 2022. The ceremonies will be held in compliance with UWC’s Interim Covid-19 Vaccination Policy.

The university has released a draft graduation list that contains all eligible graduates, even those with outstanding fees. On 15 March, the finalised list will be published.

Should your name not appear on this list and you are eligible to graduate, please CLICK HERE or contact graduation@uwc.ac.za for queries and/or clarifications.

PhD/LLD/DTH and Masters' students not on the draft list (and who have already submitted their thesis to the Library) may inform graduation@uwc.ac.za.

Students will need to ensure that their fees are paid in full in order to be included in this year's graduation ceremonies or sign an acknowledgement of debt.

An arrangement should be made even if a funder or NSFAS will be paying the fees later in the year.

All graduates will receive an official completion letter (electronically) that will be signed and stamped and indicate the:

  • qualification obtained
  • medium of instruction
  • conduct of the graduate
  • date degree conferred.

The Cape Peninsula University of Technology stated that in-person graduation ceremonies will be returning in April 2022.

“CPUT has offered a unique SMART Grad experience to those who graduated since 2020, but we are delighted to return to a more personal event that celebrates your academic achievement while maintaining the strictest adherence to current COVID-19 health and safety protocols,” said the university.
