The South African Social Security Agency (Sassa) will be migrating its online services to a new platform. This is being done to improve the delivery of services to South Africans who apply for grants using the online system.
Sassa’s migration to a new system will impact the ability of individuals to apply for and submit support for grants online. This is because no services will be available during the period set aside for the system migration.
The agency said individuals whose grant applications were returned due to incomplete documentation will still be allowed to resubmit these documents. However, the resubmission of these documents must be done by 14 October 2022.
Applicants who are unable to submit the supporting documents before 14 October 2022, will have to submit them on the new system. Sassa said the new system will be available from 1 November 2022.
Sassa said, “All applications that are not finalised i.e. saved applications or applications failed DHA [Department of Home Affairs] or Bank validation will have to be resubmitted on the new online platform as soon as it goes live.”
The agency added that all clients will be required to re-register on the new online platform. This includes existing and new grant applicants.
Sassa said clients can still apply for grants at Sassa offices during the online system migration.
