The duration of a basic police learning program is usually 24 months, of which 12 months will be at the Academy and 12 months in the workplace. It will consist of two phases at the academy and one phase in the workplace. Foundational phase – will mainly focus on acquiring necessary knowledge and skills.
For newly appointed police officers, constables undergo a four-month training programme where they will be developed in a number of fields to enable them to serve as men and women in blue. Their training programme has been tailored to build on their experience and exposure to the policing field.
