Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) colleges provide students with the skills and knowledge needed to excel in a specific career or trade. Students can also use the knowledge gained at a TVET college to pursue entrepreneurial opportunities.
The Northern Cape Rural TVET College offers both NATED and National Certificate (Vocational) courses in management, engineering and administration.
These courses are offered at their five campuses across the Northern Cape province. This includes the Upington campus, Kathu campus, De Aar campus, Kuruman campus and the Namaqualand campus.
Northern Cape Rural TVET College Courses
Applicants who have a Grade 9 qualification can enrol in one of the NC(V) courses offered at the Northern Cape Rural TVET College. An NC(V) qualification is equivalent to a Matric Certificate. These programmes are aimed at developing students in an area of specialisation with skills and knowledge needed for a successful career.
NC(V) courses offered at the Northern Cape Rural TVET College include Hospitality, Office Administration, Automotive Repair, Fabrication, Fitting and Turning and Electrical Infrastructure.
Individuals who do not meet the minimum APS required for the NC(V) programmes can register for a Pre Vocational Learning Programme (PLP).
Northern Cape Rural TVET College also offers several NATED Programmes. NATED programmes usually consist of months of theoretical studies at a TVET college and months of relevant practical application in workplaces. Students must have a Grade 12 qualification to register for a NATED programme.
NATED programmes offered at the college include Public Management, Human Resource Management, Management Assistant, Financial Management, Business Management, Fitting and Tuning, Electrical Infrastructure, and Tourism. Students can also study to become Legal SecretSecretaries, Mechanics, Boilermakers, Millwrights or Auto electricians.

- Latest Academic Results
- The ID of parents and/or guardians
- The ID of each person living in your home
- Pay advice/letter of employment/pension
Step 2: Download and Complete Forms
- Download and complete the consent form
- Students with disabilities must download and complete the Disability Assessment Questionnaire

Complete the aptitude test
Hand in the documents from Steps 1 and 2
Apply for the course
Students enrolled in approved programmes at TVET colleges can apply for the National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS) bursary. NSFAS will pay a funded student’s tuition and registration fees. They will also be provided with several NSFAS allowances.
Students who do not require financial assistance may not be required to complete step 2. Applicants are reminded that they must have hard copies of their documents on registration day.

Step 5: Upload all the required documents
Step 6: Follow all the prompts to complete your Northern Cape Rural TVET College application.
Once a student has submitted their application, it will be verified by the college. Once their application is verified, students will receive an SMS. The SMS will contain one of four messages
- Pending Review
- Pending Verification
- Outstanding Documents
- Provisionally approved
Pending review means that your application is still being verified while Pending verification means the information you provided is being verified.
Applicants who receive the outstanding documents SMS can either upload all the required documents or hand them at a campus.
Applicants who get the Provincially Approved SMS means they have the offer to study their chosen course. They can accept this offer by replying to the SMS within 48 hours.
