Grade 11 is considered a crucial year for those that are still in Secondary School, as it determines a lot about how the learner will be able to adapt to the demands of matric.

Education expert Wonga Ntshinga has offered some advice in the form of a five-step process that Grade 11 learners should consider implementing in order to ensure that they have a successful year.

The First Step is to Shoot for the stars when writing your Grade 11 final exams. By this, Ntshinga says that aiming for high marks during this exam period could help the learner in a number of ways which even include securing a place for provisional acceptance at university.

The second step is to take some time during the holiday period to work on all the subjects that require more attention.

He says that at this point in the school year, learners know which subjects have proven to be difficult and thus these should be a point of focus when implementing strategies to improve. He even suggests making use of the past question papers from Grade 12.

The third step is that learners should plan ahead. This means that learners should plan their year before it starts by thinking of what career paths they may want to pursue after Grade 12. A vision board may be of great use in this regard. He also suggests that parents should be more actively involved in this process.

Step four is that learners should take the time to outline their future plans. This would involve formulating a long term plan on what a learner may want to do after their tertiary education.

The Fifth step is to get some good habits. He says the pandemic has forced people to look at their health and how they can survive this difficult time. Learners also need to take vitamins to fuel their activities as well as engage in regular exercise routines.
