The Department of Basic Education (DBE) is urging eligible youth to submit their applications before the deadline. Today, 9 May 2025, is the final day to apply for Phase 5 of the Basic Education Employment Initiative (BEEI)

Phase 5 aims to create over 200,000 job opportunities. Previous phases have already provided more than one million placements.

How to Apply for Teaching Assistant Jobs

The DBE will be working with SAYouth.mobi for the recruitment of young people. This will be the only source for recruitment.

Applications must be submitted on SAYouth.mobi, a free-to-use, zero-rated platform. No mobile data is needed.

The DBE encourages young people to register on SAYouth.mobi, or if already registered, to ensure their login details are updated to avoid delays in the application process.

The department has warned against fake job ads on other platforms. Scammers have previously used the PYEI brand to steal personal information. Only apply via SAYouth.mobi.

Successful candidates will earn a R4,000 monthly stipend for six months, plus R30 for data. Police Clearance Certificates (PCCs) will be required during the recruitment process.

The initiative is funded by the National Treasury and the Unemployment Insurance Fund (UIF), with the UIF portion managed by the Industrial Development Corporation.
