The South African Social Security Agency has called on all 350 SRD grant beneficiaries who have recently changed their marital status to update their details.
Covid-19 SRD grant beneficiaries whose marital status changed after they applied for the grant are urged to update SASSA of the change.
Clients who get married or change their surname at the Department of Home Affairs are urged by SASSA to update SASSA about the change.
Sassa also added that it validates client's information with the Department of Home Affairs monthly and if details do not match, the application for that period may be declined.
The Covid-19 Social Relief of Distress Grant (SRD) was initially introduced when President Cyril Ramaphosa declared the National State of Disaster due to the Covid-19 global pandemic.
SASSA pays out R350 per month for 6 months to individuals who are currently unemployed, and do not receive any form of income, social grant or UIF payment.
The grant is currently in its second cycle, which was launched in August earlier this year as a response to worsened unemployment caused by the July unrest that occurred in KwaZulu-Natal and Gauteng.
