Receiving a denial for your SRD grant application can be disheartening, especially if you believe you meet all the eligibility requirements. There are several reasons why your application might have been rejected, including:

  • Incorrect or Missing Information: Ensure that all the details you provided, such as your ID number, banking details, and contact information, are accurate and complete.
  • System Errors: Technical glitches can sometimes lead to incorrect denials.
  • Eligibility Mismatch: While you may believe you qualify, there might be a discrepancy in the system's assessment.

If you're convinced that your SRD grant application was wrongfully denied, you have the right to appeal the decision. The South African Social Security Agency (Sassa) explains:

Applicants who feel aggrieved by the outcome of their applications can lodge their appeals on the SRD website.

Sassa advises applicants to them select the "lodging an appeal" option and click on "DSD appeals" website.

Here’s How To Submit Your SRD grant appeal

Step 1: Visit The ITSAA  Website

Step 2: Enter Your Identification Number

Step 3: Enter The Cell Phone Number You Used During The Application Process

Step 4: Click Send “Pin”

Step 5: Once you receive the pin, you will be required to insert it and click “Submit”

Step 6: Select the month that you are appealing for

Step 7: Secret the drop-down arrow to choose the reason for your appeal application from the options provided

Step 8: Click “Submit” to complete the appeal application process

Clearly explain why you believe your application was denied unjustly and present compelling evidence to support your claim.

The appeal process may take some time, so be patient and follow up if you haven't received a response within the expected timeframe. Once you submit your SRD appeal, you can track it's progress by doing a Sassa status check.

How To Check Your R370 Sassa Grant Appeal Status

  1. Go to the Sassa Appeals Website to get information on your Sassa appeal status.
  2. Enter ID number
  3. Enter telephone number
  4. Track appeal

You can also call the Sassa Call Centre on their cellphone number which is 0800 601 011.

Feedback on your Sassa status check appeal from the Independent Tribunal For Social Assistance usually takes 60 to 90 days. The outcome of your appeal will be relayed through a confirmation message via SMS.
