Before the South African Social Security Agency (Sassa) approves SRD grant applications, the applicant’s details are verified with the Department of Home Affairs. You may get the message back that Sassa status check failed.

Sassa Status Check Failed

If the applicant receives a Sassa Identity Verification Failed  status it means that Sassa found that the applicant’s details did not match with the Department of Home Affairs data.

The agency processes applicants’ details through several different databases when considering their applications. First, the applicant’s name, surname and ID number are run through the Department of Home Affairs.

You may then receive the message "Identity_verification_fixed"

Identity Verification Fixed Meaning

If you get the message identity verification fixed, then this is good news. It means that they have solved the problems that they were having and your identity has been confirmed.

SRD Declined Status Check

Those who wish to have their application reconsidered as they believe that they were unfairly declined, may appeal the decision. Sassa will then need to reconsider the SRD R350 grant application.

The appeal needs to be lodged on the Sassa website within 30 days of when they received a rejection status.

How To Appeal For An SRD Grant

  1. Go to srd.dsd.gov.za
  2. Enter your ID number
  3. Enter your phone number
  4. Lodge your appeal

An appeal should be lodged for every month that the grant is declined. Applicants may track their SRD appeal via the website.

How To Track The Status Of Your SRD Grant Online

  1. Visit the Sassa SRD grant website.
  2. Scroll down to 'Application status'.
  3. Select 'Click here to check online'.
  4. Fill in the required fields.

Check SRD Status

In some cases, your application status may be unavailable. However, Sassa reminds applicants that their system is processing millions of applications so it may take some time before their application status is available.

Sassa's Independent Tribunal will relay the outcome of the appeal to the applicant electronically within a period of 60 - 90 days from after the appeal was lodged.
